Accessible Yoga is a class for ALL bodies, ages, shapes, sizes and abilities. It is especially good for those experiencing body challenges due to injury, chronic health conditions, physical limitations, mobility issues, living in a larger body, physical disability or recovering from illness or surgery. If you have a body, a mind and breath, you can practice yoga.
In this class, you will explore how to do YOUR yoga. Postures and practices are adapted to YOUR possibilities. Students may practice in the chair, standing with the chair for support if needed, or possibly a combination of the two. We collaborate to discover YOUR variation of each posture and support you to do the right yoga for your body on that day. The class is gentle and moves at a slower pace.
Our bodies change, and yet yoga still provides many benefits including building strength, balance, flexibility, mobility and peacefulness. Join us as we gently move the body with the breath in a way that honors our bodies wherever they are in that moment.
Janis Ware, RYT200, has practiced yoga for 15 years. She is certified in both Accessible and Adaptive Yoga, Trauma Informed Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga, and Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga. Her body has been a great teacher, and yoga has helped her heal from knee replacement and rotator cuff surgeries in addition to other challenges. She believes all people deserve access to the teachings and practice of yoga. All of her class offerings are accessible.
